The Giant’s Causeway is a World Heritage site National Nature Reserve and Northern Ireland’s premier tourist attraction. The site and 15 mile of footpaths along the Causeway …

Must visit the neat little town they call Belfast, plus one of the Wonders of the World – the Giant’s Causeway, only 50 miles away. The Giant’s Causeway is Northern Ireland’s most famous landmark and a World Heritage Site. It takes its name from the legends of Finn MacCool and is draws people from far and wide to this corner of north Antrim. You need to know more than distance to estimate driving times in Ireland. Thankfully, I planned one thing right. We were booked in the perfect place to sooth road weary souls, the exquisite olde world Bushmills Inn. After a superb dinner, two hours from start to finish, we were once again ready for the family weekend ahead. Vatican city holds the solution. In all its glory, it spreads all the way across the great St Peter’s piazza matching the circular key handle pattern, all the way down the causeway to the Castel Sant’ Angelo. The Fortress is a giant five pointed star! Here is the first breakthrough: Fingal’s Cave, on the island of Staffa off the west coast of Scotland (near Mull and Iona), is a sea cave formed within Tertiary basalt lava flows which have cooled to form hexagonal columns (like those of the Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland) I remember when I first saw those rocks, it appeared on the cover of the Led Zeppelin album “Houses of the Holy“. I can’t believe such hexagonal shaped rocks couldn’t exist in this world. The Giant’s Causeway is the results of volcanic eruption formed 60 million years ago. Today you can see approximately 40,000 columns of basalt rocks on this land. This place is incredible, it’s as if humans have built it, not vulcanic eruption. You’ve got to see this. Photos from Ireland include: Glendalough, Ring of Kerry, Giant’s Causeway, River Liffey, Dublin and Cliffs of Moher! A lunar landscape on Earth! Not the best picture of the spot but still a must see!
